VDOT is the single largest customer for the asphalt industry. More than five million tons of mix per year is provided for use on VDOT projects or to VDOT directly. Beyond this tonnage, VDOT specifications and guidelines impact most of the non-VDOT tonnage produced in the state. Since VDOT has such a big impact, both directly and indirectly, it is important that companies understand what VDOT wants and VDOT understands what companies can provide.
