TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP
As the technical association for the asphalt industry in Virginia, VAA is committed to the success of its member companies – contractors, suppliers, and supporters of the industry, through technical leadership, member services, and training/education activities. VAA’s technical staff has over 95 years of expertise in the areas of asphalt materials, asphalt production and laydown, pavement engineering, and testing. Their background is used to assist members with current challenges and to pave the way for the implementation of new technologies.

MEETINGS AND EVENTS
Each year, VAA hosts meetings and events with the industry’s biggest customers – VDOT, FHWA, and local governments. Events such as the asphalt seminars bring together over 300 attendees from across the Commonwealth, and the recently launched Mid-Atlantic Asphalt Expo and Conference will host more than 700 industry professionals from across the US.  Through numerous events and media such as magazines, e-newsletters, and email blasts, more than 2,000 VAA members and partners are kept up to date on the latest happenings in the asphalt and paving industry.

TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND WORKFORCE
Not to be overlooked is VAA’s commitment to training, education, and workforce development. The Virginia Education Center for Asphalt Technology, affectionately known as VECAT, is a partnership between VAA and Germanna Community College. VAA and industry professionals have developed certification materials used to certify more than 4500 people in the last 5 years. VECAT is one of the largest certification entities in Virginia! Using the success of VECAT, VAA professionals are partnering with members and other institutions to identify and develop the workforce of the future.
