During tough economic times, many companies are looking to reduce expenses and stretch the dollar.  Becoming a member of  VAA will help companies do just that.  In addition to supporting the Association’s ongoing efforts to increase the use of asphalt mix, a member can expect to benefit from:

VAA’s representation at various meetings and conferences within and outside of Virginia.    Information relevant to its members is shared through electronic media, newsletters and personal contacts.  Many times prior to meetings with government entities (i.e. – VDOT, DEQ, etc.), VAA will seek input from members on issues that are of concern to them.

Opportunities to exhibit and interact with member companies and industry professionals at VAA’s Mid-Atlantic Asphalt Expo & Conference (MAAE), which draws over 600 state and local officials and industry representatives.  MAAE provides attendees with the opportunity to interact with vendors from across the Mid-Atlantic region who showcase everything from Big Iron to the latest smart devices.  Attendees are also exposed to the most current information on research and specifications that will be applicable to the upcoming year’s paving season as well as training and education tracks that benefit everyone.

An invitation to the Association’s Annual Meeting where senior company member representatives gather for senior VDOT leadership presentations, planning meetings and strategy sessions in a relaxed atmosphere.  Networking opportunities for member companies make this meeting a must for companies that depend on the asphalt industry for much of their business.

Attendance at seminars and workshops that provide educational information on various technical and promotional subjects important to the industry.

A listing and description of your company in the Association’s widely disseminated membership directory including an opportunity to advertise your company’s services and products within its pages.  The full directory is now also available online on the VAA website which allows interested parties to view your company’s information including a link to the company’s website.

VAA’s professional staff has a combined total of over 65 years of experience in all aspects of the asphalt business including pavement and mix designs, field laydown expertise and in the state and federal requirements that impact industry from environmental and safety regulations.

Receipt of the Association monthly enewsletter and semi-annual Magazine which keep members up to date on the latest technical information, membership news, VDOT news and environmental and safety alerts. Each publication is distributed to over 1100 individuals and offers a great way to advertise your company and reach a large audience in the Virginia Asphalt Industry.

Finally, being a member of VAA allows your voice to be heard on the matters that are of the utmost importance to you.  Through formal cooperative meetings with VDOT, industry, and government works together to solve problems and chart a course for the future.

The Virginia Asphalt Association has three levels of membership ranging from contractor to affiliate.  The member level is determined based on the services each company offers.

A description of each membership level is provided.


The Contractor membership level is reserved for those companies that produce asphalt concrete at a central plant or at a mobile plant.  The asphalt concrete may be produced using conventional processes where the virgin materials and recycled materials are heated and mixed or cold processes such as cold in place recycling and cold plant recycling.  Contractor members are voting members of VAA and are eligible for a seat on the VAA Board of Directors.


The Associate Contractor membership level is for those companies that are active on project sites.  The following categories are Associate Contractors.
